Swelling on face due to tooth ache

Hey, my hubby is suffering from toothache. He has gum issues for as long as I can remember. As per his dentist prescription, he started flossing twice a day after brushing.
Last week he went to Toronto for some official purposes, he came back with swelling on his face. He said he doesn't feel pain as he went to an emergency dentist( there. He had a small cavity on his last molar and he got filled it up. Currently, he has no issues except this swelling. I asked him to rinse the mouth with salted lukewarm water after every meal.I'm looking for other remedies to reduce this swelling at earliest without medicine. Please share your thoughts and ideas.
