Need advice for taking my autistic child for his first dental visit
My son is 10 years old and he has autism. He has crooked teeth. I used to make him brush every day. Brushing and flossing have become more complicated because of his crooked teeth. Due to overcrowding of teeth, some areas are virtually impossible to clean. So I am worried that it may cause any tooth decay or gum diseases. I discussed this with my husband and he told me to take him for a child dental checkup ( https://www.smiletown.ca/ ). He also added that it will be good if we take him to the pediatric dental clinic in Kitchener. I think the dentist will suggest that he might need dental braces. I have heard that four teeth will be extracted before getting dental braces. I'm worried about how he behaves during the entire procedure. Will braces cause him any discomfort? Will he be able to handle it? Kindly share your insights. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks!
